DownLoadable Content = downloadable content. These are expansions that bring additional content to the base game. This can be new scenarios, costumes, characters, levels.
Most of the time, you have to pay for each of these DLCs. Some publishers therefore take advantage of this to remove content from the base game and offer it separately for purchase afterwards. Fortunately, this is not the case for all of them.
There are some free DLCs as well. To get a DLC, you have to go to the online virtual store of the console you own:
- Nintendo Switch: eShop
- Playstation 4 and 5: Playstation Store
- Xbox One and Xbox Series: Microsoft Store.
These stores can be accessed directly from each of the consoles, or in their web versions via a browser/browser.
In games that have DLCs, there are also buttons and menus that allow access to the portion of the virtual stores dedicated to them.
Note that it is possible to buy some DLCs in physical stores or online (BestBuy, Walmart, EBGames, Amazon, Pharmaprix) in the form of gift cards. But only the biggest games have this privilege of accessibility.
