Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent chain to help detect spam.

An anonymous channel created from your email address (also known as hashing) can be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you’re using it. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to register your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t have to refill your details when you leave another comment. These cookies will last a year.

If you visit our login page, we will install a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in, we’ll also set up multiple cookies to record your login information and on-screen viewing choices. Connection cookies last two days and screen options cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your connection will last for two weeks. If you log out of your account, login cookies will be deleted.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply shows the publication ID of the article you just modified. It expires after 1 day.

Integrated content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, articles, etc.). The built-in content of other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website.

These websites can collect data about you, use cookies, integrate additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with this built-in content, including tracking your interaction with built-in content if you have an account and are logged into that website.

Who do we share your data with?

How long we keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This is how we can automatically recognize and approve all follow-up comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except they can’t change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit this information.

What rights do you have on your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of personal data we hold about you, including the data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete all personal data we hold about you. This does not include data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor feedback can be verified via an automated spam detection service.
