Review: EA Sports FC 24 explained to parents (Preview)

EA Sports FC 24 Featured Ecran Partage

What parents need to know

EA Sports FC 24 is the 2024 edition of the franchise that was called FIFA until recently.

Just like its predecessors, this game is a realistic football/soccer simulation that contains all the names of the official players of FIFA (the Fédération Internationale de Football Association). A new edition of this game is released every year.

This game is recommended for all ages by the ESRB, but do not recommend it for young children without parental supervision. The reason is that they are likely to spend huge amounts of money in the game without even realizing it.

It is therefore necessary to delete the credit card saved in the console and to adjust the parental controls of the console before launching the game. The monetization model of EA Sports FC 24 is based on the concept of lootbox, which means people can purchase with real money the chance to get a fairly random reward, which has no guarantee of someday granting the desired item.

Our opinion

Unless your child is a big football fan, we do not recommend EA Sports FC 24 because of the highly morally questionable monetization model. In addition to pressuring players to spend real money with no guarantee of getting what they want, the ubiquity of microtransactions in this game creates a situation where wins and losses are greatly influenced by the money spent (commonly known as pay to win).
