Principle of the game

Luigi walks through a haunted hotel equipped with his vacuum cleaner and a flashlight. It will suck up many ghosts and solve many puzzles, to progress as the hotel goes by. Each level has a theme like the Middle Ages, a magic studio, Ancient Egypt, a film studio, etc.

Local game modes

history:

The main mode of the game. Browse the history of Luigi’s Mansion 3 and unravel the mystery of the haunted hotel.

Be careful to play 2 players in cooperation in this mode, you must have progressed for about 3 hours solo. This is not at all suitable because one of the players does not know the controls at all when arriving in the game, and must watch the other player play alone. A funny decision on the part of Nintendo who designed the game. If the player plays alone, he controls Luigi and Gooigi (his gelatinous clone) in turn.

From 1 to 2 players.

ScreamPark / Games of the Strange:

Game modes require at least 2 players. These are team-versus-team clashes.

Either it’s about capturing the most ghosts to earn points. The team with the most points wins.

Either it’s about picking up the most coins before the other team.

Either it’s about destroying more targets than the other team with a cannon by collecting cannonballs, loading the cannon and firing.

From 2 to 8 players.

ScareScraper / Haunted Tower:

You chain levels and floors of the hotel with your friends in order to capture all the ghosts, recover a lot of money or eliminate the crows. Each floor changes rules.

From 1 to 4 players.

Online gaming modes

Online gaming modes require a paid subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service.

ScareScraper:

You chain levels and floors of the hotel with your friends or strangers online in order to capture all the ghosts, recover a lot of money or eliminate the crows. Each floor changes rules. It is possible to play 2 on the same online console.

From 1 to 4 players online.

Extensions

DLCs can be purchased online at Nintendo’s virtual store, eShop or through the affiliate links below.

DLC Pack 1:

Add 3 new mini-games to the ScreamPark. Add 3 costumes for Luigi in the ScareScraper.

DLC Pack 2:

Add 3 more new mini-games to the ScreamPark. Add 3 more costumes for Luigi in the ScareScraper.

If you have the opportunity to play locally with a lot of friends, the extensions are ideal. Otherwise ScreamPark mode is not playable online or solo.

Conclusion

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a very good game with a lot of content. But this is its main problem, it is very very long. There is a lot of superfluous in history, many round trips to the hotel. It takes many evenings and afternoons to finish. It will take the perseverance of all the players to do that.

Multiplayer modes are anecdotal, and it seems weird to bring together so many people for games that we get tired quickly.
