The 3rd edition of Sherbrooke Video Game Week<\/strong> is back, highlighting Sherbrooke’s dynamic ecosystem in the booming field of video games and techno-creative arts. Organized by Sherbrooke Innopole, in partnership withLa Guilde du jeu vid\u00e9o du Qu\u00e9bec<\/a><\/strong>, this week of festivities from March 15 to 24, 2024<\/strong> celebrates the continued development of this sector. <\/p>\n\n

Young local studios have made their debut, with demos and launches of games like Misstic<\/strong> Studio’s Sunrise’s Order<\/strong> in 2023 and Lucid Dreams Studio’s<\/strong> highly anticipated BIOMORPH <\/a><\/strong>in March 2024. In addition, the training offer has expanded with the opening of the new campus of the NAD-UQAC School of Digital Arts, Animation and Design<\/a><\/strong> in the heart of Sherbrooke. <\/p>\n\n

The program of this edition is rich in varied events aimed at students, professionals, creators, video game enthusiasts and the general public. Marc-Henri Faure<\/strong> of Sherbrooke Innopole<\/a><\/strong> highlights the diversity and abundance of activities on offer, as well as the presence of renowned speakers, testifying to the enthusiasm and pride of local actors in hosting this Week. This reflects the effervescence and growing notoriety of the video game community in Sherbrooke, thus strengthening the city’s position on the Quebec scene and beyond.<\/p>\n\n

What can you find there?<\/h2>\n\n

Sherbrooke Video Game Week<\/strong>2024 is full of varied activities for all enthusiasts. Conferences, open houses, playtest evenings, outreach sessions and many other events will provide attendees with many opportunities for discovery, entertainment and networking. The kick-off will be the Game Jam Sherbrooke<\/strong>, a 48-hour hackathon where participants will create games from scratch. The Sherbogue playtest<\/strong> evening will allow video game enthusiasts to explore titles in development by several Quebec studios in a friendly atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n

Three conferences will address topics such as the latest technologies, tricks of the trade and entrepreneurship in the field of video games, thus addressing programmers, creators and game enthusiasts. Speakers such as Red Barrels<\/strong> and IVADO Institute<\/strong> will discuss topics ranging from horror games to the impact of artificial intelligence on different industries. Events such as the Ap\u00e9ros jeux Sherbrooke<\/strong> and conferences organized by \n NAD-UQAC School<\/a>\n<\/strong> and Bishop’s University<\/strong> will also enrich the program.<\/p>\n\n

ICI Radio-Canada Premi\u00e8re’s<\/strong> Les ann\u00e9es lumi\u00e8re<\/strong> will record a Bar des sciences<\/strong> on video games in collaboration with Bistro Brain in Sherbrooke<\/strong>. Initiatives such as the Caf\u00e9 Scientifique on Screens and Sleep and the SYNTH\u00c8SE \u2013 P\u00f4le Image Qu\u00e9bec<\/a><\/strong> meetings with students will allow for exchanges on a variety of subjects.<\/p>\n\n

Ubisoft Sherbrooke’s<\/strong> open house will be a unique opportunity to discover the studio and its team. La Console qui Console<\/strong> will organize its 10th weekend of fun activities, both face-to-face and online, for the benefit of Leucan Estrie<\/strong> and the CHAS<\/strong> (Centre H\u00e9bergement Alternatif de Sherbrooke).<\/p>\n\n
