SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series that is very popular with children. This series, which follows the adventures of a protagonist of the same name with his friends in the fictional town of Bikini Bottom, is amongst the five longest running American animated series.
The popularity of this series has encouraged the creation of multiple derivative products and several video games. This article presents four SpongeBob themed video games.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake (2023)
SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is a 3D platformer in which the player controls SpongeBob as he explores alternate universes (called Wish Worlds) with Patrick to save their friends and Bikini Bottom. This game is the official sequel to the game SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom (2003).
The Cosmic Shake features several combat mechanics and has SpongeBob gather collectible items for side missions. All the alternate realities have distinct visual signatures, and the characters are voiced by the same voice actors as in the television series. This game is considered appropriate for children who are at least 10 years old.

SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off (2020)
This is a cooking simulation game. In this game, Mr. Krabs realizes that he can maximize his profits by multiplying restaurants and food kiosks. The task of cooking and serving customers falls to SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward. Playable characters can work in multiple restaurants, which specialize in different types of meals.
It is a free mobile game that includes in-app purchases. A paid version for the Nintendo Switch was released in 2021 (see next section), and a free version with the Netflix subscription exists. This game is considered suitable for children of +8 years.

Krusty Cook-Off – Extra Krusty Edition – Get Cookin’ (2021)
Krusty Cook-Off – Extra Krusty Edition is a re-release of the game described in the previous section, so it is also a cooking simulation game. This game includes all the DLCs of the game, 4 additional costumes for the player character, free decorative items, and a physical format. The big difference between this version of the game and the mobile version is the absence of microtransactions, as all the downloadable content that is paid on mobile is included here.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated (2020)
This game is a remake of the game SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom (2003). It is a 3D platformer in which the player can play as SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy in their quest to save the city.
Characters must avoid dangers such as stakes or flames, collect special items, and defeat robots that besiege various areas of Bikini Bottom. The story mode is played alone, but the horde mode allows two players to collaborate against waves of robotic enemies. This game is recommended for players who are at least 10 years old.
Editor’s note: we do not recommend buying this game because it is catastrophic, it has multiple bugs, the game mechanics are not particularly fun, and the objectives are not clear.
