Review: What is Skyblivion? (Preview)

Skyblivion is a long-term volunteer project with the goal to recreate the role-playing game (RPG) The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (2006) in the engine of the game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011). This project is the result of the collaboration between international fans of the franchise, and it is scheduled to be released in 2025. To respect Bethesda’s copyright, it will be required to have an official copie of both TES IV: Oblivion and TES V: Skyrim for PC to play it.

Skyblivion strives to be as faithful as possible to the game it is a remake of, so it offers the same epic narrative. You play as an escaped prisoner who finds themselves at the center of a prophecy about the fate of the Empire and the end of the Third Era. Emperor Uriel Septim saw you in a dream: you are the one who will end the Daedric hordes’s attempt to invate the mortal plane.

In the spirit of The Elder Scrolls franchise, this game features a 3D open world and a lot of freedom in your character’s playstyle and abilities. As you explore the province of Cyrodiil, you can get involved in the activities of many guilds and factions, meet iconic characters from The Elder Scrolls franchise, and truly customize your adventure.

The game TES IV: Oblivion, of which Skyblivion is the fan-made remake, won 12 awards internationally and was nominated for 23 others. It is considered suitable for people who are +17 years old (ESRBs).
