40th Anniversary Celebration

Nintendo celebrates 40 years of The Legend of Zelda with new games, products, events and collaborations.

The celebrations begin in 2026 and will continue until 2027.

The full presentation and more information will be available on zelda40th.nintendo.com.

Release scheduled for November 5, 2026.
The game will benefit from many improvements:
- Completely revamped graphics, including textures.
- Faster and more satisfying actions.
- Reduced loading times.
- Improved overall fluidity.
- Refreshed sound effects.
- New symphonic orchestral soundtrack.
- Button controls allow you to jump and run freely.
- Better control of the camera with the right lever.
- Enriched and fully voiced cutscenes.
- More dialogue for the characters.
- Redesigned and more detailed environments.
- Camera can be moved freely around the premises.
- The day-night cycle now works everywhere, including in cities.
A “Thread of Time” feature will allow:
- To consult at any time his progress in the story.
- To see his next goal.
- To follow a large tapestry that will be gradually completed during the adventure.
Players will be able to hum the melodies learned by Link: the game will recognize them and automatically play them on the ocarina.
The game will also be compatible with the new playable and electronic ocarinas.
The first physical print will have special packaging:
- Textured film cover illustration.
- Available while supplies last.
Pre-orders and additional information will be available on Nintendo Store and Nintendo eShop.

Available from October 29, 2026 :
- Nintendo Switch 2 System – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Anniversary Edition Controller, with or without Exhibit Stand.
- Nintendo Switch 2 carrying pouch with screen protector.
All of these products will feature a Triforce-inspired design.

Two models will be released later in 2026:
- A playable ocarina for people who really want to play it.
- An electronic ocarina from HORI, capable of playing notes or entire pieces at the touch of a button.
In Ocarina of Time, players will be able to hum a melody in front of the Nintendo Switch 2’s built-in microphone for Link to perform in the game.

New Link amiibo figures for kids and Zelda kids will be released in 2027.
They will unlock special masks in the game with a retro graphic style.
The previously announced Golem of Mineru amiibo for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on September 17, 2026.

The service will be integrated into the Nintendo Switch app for compatible smart devices.
In particular, it will make it possible to:
- To follow the progress of the adventure.
- To take up the challenges of finding places from clue images.
- To play a virtual ocarina.
- Answer a daily quiz with more than 2,000 questions.

ZELDA NOTES already supports the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

A series of concerts will take place around the world in 2027.

The program will include music from the entire series, from nostalgic themes to more recent compositions.

- London : April 2027.
- Melbourne : May 2027.

The museum will participate in the celebrations for a year.

Planned new features:
- Special 40th anniversary ticket available from September 9, 2026.
- New photo opportunities from November 5, 2026.
- Opening of the Super Family Restaurant in the fall of 2026.
The restaurant will allow you to eat surrounded by Link and other Nintendo characters.

Starting September 9, 2026, users will be able to collect The Legend of Zelda digital cards every day.
The animations in the Zelda calendar will change to feature games from across the series.

Fans can celebrate the anniversary with the Zelda games available on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

The film will officially be titled The Legend of Zelda.
Worldwide theatrical release scheduled for April 30, 2027.
The film will be produced by:

- Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc.
It will be inspired by the stories, ideas and concepts developed in the series during its 40-year history.
