Triple Boris is doing it again: next August, the Quebec independent studio will sign with Hack ‘n’ Stack , a second game from its creative branch, Dodo Tako.
A demo is already available on Steam; Steam Next Fest, from June 15 to 22, will allow you to taste a more complete version.
Hack ‘n’ Stack transports you to a variety of settings: mysterious forests, mountains, singing plains and sun-drenched coasts — where 2 to 4 players will have to collect resources (wood, stone, metal, sand…) to supply their workbench. From these materials, they will build walls and turrets, craft weapons, and fend off waves of enemies determined to annihilate their facilities.
The block-stacking mechanic is at the heart of the gameplay: erecting high and solid barricades, optimizing the layout of defenses and showing ingenuity will be essential to resist. And beware of squabbles between teammates — tensions are likely to rise as quickly as the laps.
Hack ‘n’ Stack skilfully mixes several styles to offer an explosive cocktail.
Players will play as one of four anthropomorphic animals — customizable with more than 750 costume and weapon combinations — in settings with a marked style and neat textures that show an assumed artistic direction. “Physics and the concept of tower defense are mixed together,” says Simon Dansereau, president of Triple Boris. “The result is a chaotic party, action, simulation game that is sure to appeal to players aged 8 and up.”
The project fits perfectly with Dodo Tako’s DNA: to create immersive and original experiences, to build universes that bring people together and to imagine memorable adventures. Launched in 2021, the division signed its first production, Where is Billy?, in July 2025 — a frenetic multiplayer where the competition takes the form of hide-and-seek in a haunted mansion, to be played while avoiding detection by monsters.
