What parents need to know

The 16th installment in the main franchise (but far from being the 16th game in the franchise; if you count spin-off games and other sequels, the franchise has 95 games!), Final Fantasy XVI promises to be the beginning of a new era for the world’s most famous role-playing game series.

The reason? Final Fantasy XVI completes the action turn that was already started in the previous game, Final Fantasy XV. No more turn-based fighting; This new title is a real-time action game with role-playing elements.

We play Clyde, son of the Duke of Rosaria who is ignored for the succession when it turns out that it is rather his younger brother, Joshua, who has the power to summon Phoenix, a powerful spirit of fire called Eikon. Clyde then devoted himself to his role as his younger brother’s bodyguard. However, their lives are turned upside down when the Duchy of Rosaria is attacked, and a second fiery Eikon, Ifrit, appears.

If the purists of the franchise may be disappointed by the change of direction of the series that takes an action turn, the fact remains that Final Fantasy XVI promises to be a great action game. The mechanics are satisfactory and the controls precise, and we find the qualities we know in the Final Fantasy series: a broad and complex story, breathtaking orchestral music, and a breathtaking visual presentation.

The game will be rated M for mature, and will be reserved for adults; Only in the demo, several very bloody scenes are presented, in addition to a sexual scene.

Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled for release on June 22.
