On the occasion of the 2026 National Game Awards in Toronto, the Montreal studio kicked off its festivities with a tribute video to its famous horror franchise Outlast.
Since the release of the first Outlast in 2013, the series has generated over $230 million in revenue and has sold over 50 million copies. The studio, which has grown from 10 to more than 80 employees, has won several prestigious awards over the years for its games, sound design, and development.
Major industry players, including La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec and the Canada Media Fund, highlighted the impact of Red Barrels, which is considered an example of the international influence of Quebec creativity.
The company continues to grow with recruitment, the continuous improvement of its existing games, including The Outlast Trials, and the development of a new project that is still secret.
To mark this anniversary, Red Barrels organized a special event in Montreal on May 26, 2026 where its founders looked back on the history of the studio, the challenges faced, their corporate culture and the factors that contributed to their success.
