What parents need to know

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is a compilation of the following games released between 2006 and 2008 for the Nintendo DS:

  • Mega Man Star Force Pegasus

  • Mega Man Star Force Leo

  • Mega Man Star Force Dragon

  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Ninja

  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Saurian

  • Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace

  • Mega Man Star Force 3 Red Joker

So these are 3 different games only available in all their variations, like the Pokémon games.

After enjoying great success with the Mega Man Battle Network series between 2001 and 2005, Capcom saw its audience grow over time, and customers were becoming teenagers and adults at the time.

Seeing its concept and its audience decline, Capcom decided to create a new Mega Man series, a spiritual sequel to Battle Network, the Star Force series.

Star Force features Geo, a teenager depressed since the death of his father who will meet an alien entity Omega-Xis, who will give him superpowers and transform him into Mega Man. Geo is then moved to the real world, while Mega Man moves on EM (Electromagnetic) Waves and fights aliens who want to harm the earthlings.

The Star Force series is a simplified version of the Mega Man Battle Network. The multiple deck-building rules are gone. Random battles take place in 3D with a view behind Mega Man, and all the once-complicated attack combinations are easy to execute.

Our opinion

Adapting games originally released on Nintendo DS, the 2-screen console, is far from an easy task on a single-screen console.

Capcom had to reconfigure everything, offer dozens of settings to keep all players happy, and WOW, the result is fantastic. Everything you can imagine as a configuration is possible and available.

Screen 1 small on the side, Screen 2 large? it is possible.

One above the other? Is it possible?

Main screen that prioritizes the action between the 2 screens? it is possible.

And that’s not the only adaptation work that Capcom has provided. The texts, textures, polygons have been adapted for our screens and their contemporary resolutions.

Everything is beautiful, everything works very well. It is a great pleasure to find the 3 role-playing games in this compilation.

All bonuses that were previously available as a card to scan, are available and can be activated, or deactivated.

The Gallery and Music Player modes are very complete.

Are you bothered by random combat? you are entitled to FIVE levels of settings ranging from Completely Off to Ultra Frequent!

Are the fights too difficult? Increase your character’s power directly.

Really this compilation is so well provided and done, I’m impressed.

The online game works very well. You can search in ranked or unranked games, on all 3 tracks at the same time, instead of just one as in previous compilations. The only thing missing is the crossplay between all versions.

And on PC, at certain points at the beginning of games, you’re asked to enter names for characters. On Switch, and Steam Deck, there is a virtual keyboard, but on PC Laptop, or Desktop, you will need a keyboard next to you.

This compilation of games is ideal for the nostalgic of course, but also for English-speaking children, teenagers or who want to learn English. Adults can also have fun with it, but the stories have the structure of a Shonen: a teenage hero who makes a lot of friends, and who becomes more and more powerful, by dint of training.

Now we want all the improvements and additions of this compilation, in the previous Mega Man compilations!
