The Games for Change Festival will take place from July 14 to 21, 2023 in New York City, USA.
It is a series of events organized by the organization, Games For Change, which aims to bring together experts from the video game industry around conferences, retrospectives on successes and failures, and predictions on the future of video games, virtual reality or augmented reality in the fields of health, education, and well-being.
There is therefore a hackathon for XR technologies (name grouping virtual reality, augmented and mixed reality) called XR Brain Jam from July 14 to 16, 2023.
A summit for industry decision-makers will be held at the United Nations premises in New York on 17 July 2023.
The core of the festival will take place on July 18 and 19, 2023 at The Times Center and Microsoft Times Square. It’s 2 days filled with lectures about everything that motivates Games For Change: AI, XR, education, misinformation in gaming communities, games to heal and many other topics.
There is also an awards ceremony for the most socially and educationally impactful games on July 19, 2023 at 7pm New York time (EST -4).
Mixed reality will be in the spotlight during the day of July 20, 2023 at The Times Center and Microsoft Times Square with conferences dedicated to them.
July 21, 2023 is designed to educate, inspire and empower high school and high school/CEGEP students through series of workshops to learn how to design and program applications in the Next-Gen Summit.
Finally, G4C Immersive Arcade Annex will take place at the ONX and will showcase the projects of creators committed to the themes of health, well-being, peace, justice, gender equality, and climate change. The arcade is open and free for all, from July 18 to 19, 2023 from 4 pm to 9 pm and July 20 from 4 pm to 7 pm.

Games for Change is a non-profit organization that aims to promote video games with a goal of beneficial social change. It has been around since 2003, so this year’s festival is celebrating 20 years.
