Which TMNT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game to choose on Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox and PC?

Just like the Batman or the Spiderman, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (or Ninja Turtles for French speakers) are constantly coming out in new versions in an attempt to seduce new generations of children and teenagers.

If there are fewer games than at the time, Nickelodeon, owner of the rights of the franchise, multiplies partnerships and the incursions of turtles in the games of other publishers.

The goal? Continue to grow the transmedia franchise in cartoons, movies, toys, books.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles confront villains of all shapes and sizes in all media by battling each other with Japanese martial arts and bladed weapons.

If I know and appreciate the franchise since I was 4 years old, it is generally intended for children from 7 to 8 years old. And of course as a franchise dating back more than 30 years, many adults have remained fans of them. That’s good, Nickelodeon continues to bet on the nostalgic aspect as much as on the new series to capitalize to the maximum.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge (2022)

A progressive fighting game with fifteen levels and 7 playable characters: The 4 turtles, Splinter, April O’Neil and Casey Jones.

The game is exceptional, very well done, it’s just the best game in the franchise released forever. Each player chooses a character and faces hundreds of enemies using punches, kicks, knife attacks, fire attacks, ice, electricity.

Available on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Netflix Games, Steam PC, Linux, Android, iOS.

Playable from 1 to 6 players on all online platforms or locally.

Attention on Playstation, the local game is playable with 4 players only, you can add 2 players online though.

More details here in our detailed test.

The game was made in Quebec, Canada.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection (2022)

A compilation of 13 old TMNT games. Depending on the games, they are playable between 1 and 4 players locally. There is an online mode but it is of poor quality and depends on the platform on which you play. The compilation is enjoyable for the nostalgic and curious who wish to play locally. The games are very difficult, but many new options have been added to make the experiences more enjoyable.

Playable from 1 to 4 players.

Available on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Steam PC.

More details here in our detailed test.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2013)

A 3D adventure game with turtles of very poor quality. It is normally no longer available on the platforms’ digital stores, or in stores, but avoid it if you come across it.

Playable to one player.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Portal Power (2017)

A bad fighting game with poorly adapted progression of its mobile version. Avoid.

Available on Steam PC.

Playable with 1 player.

Which TMNT game to choose?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. That’s it. It’s just the best. The rest is the Cowabunga Collection with old Konami games.

Avoid Out of the Shadows, and the Nickelodeon games that contain them mentioned above, they are not particularly good.
