What’s in the new Fortnite Chapter 5?

That’s it, Fortnite is moving on to Chapter 5!

What does this mean in practice?

In this chapter, a new island is introduced, but it hides secrets, including the influence of “The Society” who acts in secret and has kidnapped Peely’s character. Players are invited to join “The Underground” to thwart The Society’s plans, including facing Valeria, one of its most fearsome bosses.

The landscape of the new island is diverse with different biomes, such as chaparral to the west, boreal forest to the northwest, grassland to the center, boreal tundra, and boreal snow to the east. Players can explore these environments by using the island’s train to get around. In addition, new cars have been added to the game, providing a new dimension to the gameplay. Players can customize their cars with bodies, stickers, and wheels, as well as being able to transform one sports car per game.

There are also well-known characters who join the expanded Fortnite universe such as Peter Griffin (Family Guy), Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) or the rapper Eminem.

Chapter 5 also introduces new gameplay elements, including the Ballistic Shield which allows players to defend themselves while firing a pistol. The game’s weapons have been expanded with the addition of new shotguns, submachine guns, and sniper rifles. Two new items, the Grapple Blade and the Cluster Clinger, give players new ways to move and attack their opponents.

The weapon customization system has been expanded with the introduction of Modification Benches. Players can now add modifications to their weapons in exchange for “Bars”. These changes include recoil reductions, increased magazine capacity, and other improvements. In addition, a new food, FlowBerry, has been added to the island, providing a shield boost and a temporary low-gravity effect.

Epic Games, the game’s developer and publisher, is also detailing changes to the game’s healing elements, with adjustments to first aid kits and shield potions. It also mentions improvements in the game’s animations, providing a smoother gaming experience.

The Chapter 5 Battle Pass, called the Big Bang Battle Pass, offers rewards such as outfits, car bodies, and other cosmetic items. It features characters such as Hope, Oscar, Nisha, Montague, Peter Griffin, and Valeria. Epic Games also explains the concept of Match Quests, giving players customizable objectives with each playthrough.

Finally, competitive elements of Chapter 5 are discussed, with information about tournaments and details about features excluded from competitions. The Competitive Notes mention the inclusion of Trailsmashers, Sports Cars, and Cluster Clingers in Chapter 5 Season 1.

In summary, Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 5 brings a variety of new features, ranging from changes to the landscape and movement modes to the addition of weapon customization elements, new items, and a rewarding competitive experience. Players are invited to explore the new island, complete challenges, customize their cars, and compete in all facets of this update.
